Common questions
What can the vision system check?
Code presence, print quality, OCR/OCV, barcode and QR readability, and visible defects. The exact checks depend on the lens, lighting and product.
Can it read QR codes?
Yes. The sensor and software can read 1D and 2D codes, subject to code size and print quality.
Does it need special lighting?
Most installations use controlled lighting to make the code consistent. We specify the light with the camera and lens.
Can it connect to my PLC?
The sensor provides a Fast Ethernet interface and industrial I/O. We confirm the protocol with your line controller.
Is it suitable for washdown areas?
The sensor is IP67 rated. The enclosure and mounting still need to suit the washdown method used on your line.

Lighting and lens for a vision inspection system
A camera needs the right light for the product. Reflective labels, curved caps and shrink film behave differently. Therefore, we test the light and the lens on your sample. The 1.6-megapixel monochrome sensor runs at 60 fps. It carries an IP67 rating and connects over Fast Ethernet. However, a matte carton needs less light. Therefore, we test the light on your product before quoting.
Connect the vision inspection system to a reject device
Inspection only records a problem. The reject device removes the product. Then the line controller stops or alarms if failures repeat. Also log each result against the code. As a result, you can trace a failure back to the shift and the printer. Fix the camera to a rigid bracket, and check the reject timing at full line speed. In addition, log every failed code with an image. Then an operator can review the cause later.
Test before you install
Send a sample of the product and the code. We test the camera, the light and the reject timing. Then we confirm the lens and the working distance. In addition, we check the interface with your line controller. You see the pass and fail results before you commit.
